Here are some of the places we’ve been to. But there are so many diverse areas to explore it’s hard to choose my favorite. Costa Rica is bordered by the Caribbean on the East coast to the Pacific on the West. There are active volcanoes, the City in the Clouds and rainforests in the central mountain region. These will be quick glimpses to whet your adventurous appetite.

La Fortuna

La Fortuna ia a nice mellow little town with a lot of international travelers that come to hike the Arenal Volcano trails and chill out in the hot springs. You get so laid back you’ll feel like a sloth in the summertime. They havehot springs all over this area created by the conditions from the semi active Arenal Volcano.

The wild life in the area is amazing. You can take walking tours from local guides who point out all the little creatures from poisonous frogs to the semi active sloths. The hot springs are great. Both natural and man made pools that are attached to pricey hotels. But for $15 you can get a day pass that includes lunch! Well worth it. Several pools to choose from.

ARENAL VOLCANO SOMETIMES QUIET

Sometimes not so quiet.

Lake Arenal for sport fishing and water sports.

Nice hotels, My favorite is the Arenal Hotel & Brewery!

The Windsurfing is world class. There is one rental company that still operates during the season. Worth the trip if you love the wind. Just stay away from the crocodiles... Not so bad.
